Qingdao

Qingdao is a major coastal city located in Shandong province in the North East of China. It is an important naval base, sea port and industrial centre, as well as being a popular destination for Chinese tourists. Its 9 million residents are blessed to live in one of China's most livable cities.

Qingdao is most famous for its local Tsingtao beer, manufactured by the Tsingtao brewery, which was founded by German settlers in 1903 after Qingdao was ceded to the Germans in 1898.

Although the German colonial period only lasted for sixteen years, there are many well preserved German buildings in Qingdao city centre, contributing to Qingdao's unique atmosphere.
